June 30, 2010 – San Diego Futures Foundation (SDFF), the non-profit organization that uses technology to change lives, expanded its partnership with Microsoft last week when it received a $200,000 technology grant at the grand opening of the country’s fourth Microsoft Store at Fashion Valley Mall in San Diego.
“This generous donation will help to support low income families and kids with increased access to technology,” said Ken Harth, President of the SDFF Board. “This partnership is a transformative step towards bridging the ‘digital divide.’ Through this program, SDFF families and partners can access training curriculum, software and resources which lead to an improved quality of life including higher levels of education and employment.”
Through monetary grants, software and curriculum donations, technology solutions, and employee volunteer hours, Microsoft supports programs and organizations that address the needs of communities worldwide.
San Diego Futures Foundation (SDFF) is a social enterprise created to establish accessibility to information technology resources, increase computer literacy, and provide training to enable a broader range of citizens to cross the digital divide. SDFF fulfills its mission by addressing three primary areas of need in the San Diego community: access to technology and education, youth training, and technical services for nonprofit organizations. To that end, SDFF has provided more than 24,000 computers and 25,000 hours of technical support to San Diego nonprofits, community-based organizations, individuals, schools, and families.
