The SDFF Community Technology Center (CTC) provides not only residents of City Heights,but residents in all of San Diego County, a friendly place to learn about technology. The CTC is open to the public and is focused on helping people who have not adopted technology and broadband internet at home. According to the Public Policy Institute of California, more than 20% of San Diegans are part of this so-called "digital divide."
Staff at the CTC is available to answer questions from the most basic to the most advanced, and will explain technologies ranging from netbooks, tablets, and desktop computers, to software, accessories, and high-speed Internet access.
SDFF's partners and funders include the County of San Diego, Hewlett Packard, Cox Communications, AT&T, Microsoft, the California Emerging Technology Fund (CETF), and the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA). Thanks to their support, qualified visitors can enroll in SDFF's San Diego Broadband Initaitive (SDBI) program and receive numerous benefits to help them adopt technology, including:
